Recently my friend Maxy unintentionally formatted his 4GB memory stick from his camera which had all his convocation photographs, video clips of his friends and families. Apart from videos and pictures he even had his music collection on the memory stick. So now he is wondering, “How to recover memory stick files”?
The answer to the above question is definitely yes. Because your memory stick is similar to a hard disk drive i.e. when you delete files from your memory stick, the camera marks the files as deleted and makes the space available, whereas the file still remains on the device. So as long as you don’t save any new files to the memory stick, recovery is very much possible.
A Memory stick is a removable flash storage device which is used to store data on all kinds of portable devices such as Sony cameras, PSPs, digital audio player, mobile phones and many more devices. These devices are an easy way to store data on, but unfortunately these devices are prone to corruption like any other device. In order to use these corrupted memory sticks you must format it. Once formatted, you can recover the data from these devices using a photo recovery software.
Some of the common reasons for memory stick data loss include accidental deletion of a file from memory stick, power failure while transferring data from memory stick to PC, virus infection on the memory stick, formatting the memory stick intentionally or unintentionally and using the same memory stick on different devices.
As mentioned above recovery of the data from memory stick is possible if it is data is not overwritten with the help of a recovery software. Yodot Photo Recovery (Windows) is an amazing recovery software to recover memory stick files. It is a very easy to use and a reliable recovery software to recover deleted / formatted and lost files from all kinds of memory cards including CF, XD and SD. The software has the ability to recover different types of files such as music and video(AVI, AVS, ASF, ASX, 3GP, DIVX, MOV, MPEG, MPG, M4V, WMV, XVID, AIFF, AIF, AMR, M4A, M4B, MP3, MP4, WAV, MIDI, RA, WMA, OGG, AU, RM), images(JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, TIF, PSD, WPG, WMF, TGA, SID, QTM, QFX, PSP, PIC and etc.) and also RAW pictures(NEF, CR2, CRW, DNG, ARW, SR2, ORF, MRW, 3FR, PEF, RAW, X3F etc.). How to recover memory stick files using the software
Eject the memory stick from your camera or any other device->Plug in the memory stick via card reader to the computer->Download Yodot Photo Recovery and install it to your system-> Run the application and follow the procedures->Use “Deleted File Recovery” option to recover your deleted memory stick files or use “Lost File Recovery” option to recover your lost files->The software scans and displays all the drives and the external drives i.e. your memory stick->Choose the memory stick drive and click on “Next”->The application scans the entire drive and displays all the deleted / lost files from it->Preview the images before saving them->Save the rescued files to your desired location but not onto the same memory stick device because the chances of original data getting replaced is very high
